Five For Friday 3/28/14

Five For Friday!
One
Signs of spring are all around us here in California! I love the fluffy clouds, flowers and frogs. I know we need the rain but I love the warmer side of spring. You know, the one with 70 degree weather and you can finally put away your winter clothes. For now, I’m thankful for the rain!

This weeks letter is brought to you by wiggle worms! That’s right we’re working on the letter w in my class. I had the peaches make w necklaces to go with this weeks letter. I got the necklaces from Jessica here.

Last week I worked at a spring break camp during my break from teaching. It was fun for the most part but one day got me so down. But my hubby put a smile on my face after leaving this sweet message in my lunch box.

Gotta post about my dinner this week. I am on this tilapia kick and this week we had tilapia tacos. I followed this recipe!

My first wedding anniversary is coming up next weekend and boy has it been an amazing year of marriage. We’ve grown from our almost nine years of being together and I love what we’ve become. To this day people that attended our wedding still say nothing but wonderful things about that day. It is truly a memory that still gives me smiles and butterflies! Our photographer Teresa was amazing!

Five For Friday 3/7/14

One
I read Dr. Seuss’s book Wacky Wednesday this week and before the peaches came in I wackied my room. They loved looking around the room and finding things that were wacky. They especially loved sitting on stools at our U-shaped table instead of our regular chairs. Then I had my peaches go around giving each wacky thing a number. In all, we had 30 wacky things in my room.

Next week we start my favorite unit in first grade "Home Sweet Home" not only do they get to learn about the H Brothers but they also get to learn about maps and homes! I can't wait for the new unit.

Three
Yesterday I had my fourth grader take some photos of myself teaching my peaches for future job hunting. I really love this one:

I have to post about my art project this week. Mardi Gras was this week and in honor of this day we are making Mardi Gras Shoebox floats. I can't wait to share what they came up with, here's my example:

I can't stop gushing about this tilapia recipe I tried yesterday, parmesan crusted tilapia with asparagus. It was soooo yummy. This is the receipe I followed
That wraps up my Friday! Assessments are next week for report cards, Blecch! But I know the first grader's new unit will bring excitement.

Tuesday- Everything Dr. Seuss

Everything Dr. Seuss
It's been a crazy two days of Dr. Seuss celebrating and not to mention Mardi Gras, a students birthday and a student leaving our school. I've been plenty busy with my little peaches. We've played pin the hat on the cat, took photobooth pictures, and a food craft. Take a peek:
Didn't get a picture before the kiddos came in but here's what was left when they took off for the afternoon.

Pointing to my pin that says "Teacher 2" I made a "Teacher 1" button for my coworker

Making Dr. Seuss hats out of strawberries and marshmallows

One of my peaches really loved strawberries.

I got all of these fun photo booth props off of etsy and it was only $3.99!

Made a Thing 1 and Thing 2 photo booth as well.
My rendition of green eggs were hard boiled eggs with a little green dye.

As I mentioned one of our students moved away and so we said farewell today. I'm happy I purchased the photo booth props and got to make this fun good-bye display on his desk.
That's it for now, hope to post more about our Read Across America week. As of now we are up to reading five Dr. Seuss books (yay!) and my peaches are loving it!
