Sorry, I have been so MIA over this past month and I know it only gets worse next month with the holidays around the corner. But here is what our end of October to present has been like in my classroom and in my personal life. Also enjoy my new blog design courtesy of Lindsey at L Paull Designs. She had an awesome deal on Black Friday and could not pass it up. I love the coral/teal mix! Enjoy!
Halloween Week of Field Trips
We kicked off our career day with a visit to two of our
student’s ranch. Their dad sells colorful, organic, and yummy eggs. We learned
all about how the eggs get from the chicken to his distribution center. In the
end, we learned a lot about the process and got to take home some eggs too! We also went to McClelland's Dairy and learned about cows. Our favorite part was having the calves suck on our hands. We also got to pick our pumpkins!
Halloween
We had a rainy Halloween this year. Usually we attend a
fall festival at another small school but we didn’t go because of the down
pour. Instead, we enjoyed lots of games and crafts at school. Everyone
had so much fun! I was Tinkerbell and my co-worker was a woman from the Western
times (Saloon Girl). My favorite activity was finding the gummy worms in the whip cream. My second grader wanted to play it over and over again. Alas it was a one time thing that resulted in fun pictures!
Pilgrims and Wampanoags
We spent the majority of November learning about the
Pilgrims and the Wampanoags. We read books from Kristin Smith’s All About Thanksgiving unit. Their favorite parts were making butter and being hunter gathers thanks to Mrs. Wheeler's Pilgrim Day Unit.

On a personal note…
I Love Lucy! So does my best friend Ashley! So we
decided to have a girl’s night and see the live play in San Francisco. I had a
blast! The actors and actresses were great and it made me feel like I really
was part of the audience at a taping of I Love Lucy.
Field Trip
Our field trip for November was Mrs. Grossman’s Sticker Factory, which is located in our town! It is one of the biggest sticker manufacturers in America. We took a tour of their factory and learned that they produce stickers 20 hours a day and producing thousands of stickers and labels! It was so
much fun learning about the different stickers they produce and how they do it! At the end of our tour the peaches got to play with a pack of stickers! When we got back, we had time to review our field trip with Sunny Days Field Trip Wrap Up. Some of my peaches added a star to make it a 6 star field trip (there are only five stars on the paper) which means the field trip was quite successful!
Thanksgiving Celebration
Below is a picture of my student’s desk as they came to
school right before break. Anything that was thanksgiving was going home with
them. We made so many hats that they had a hard time deciding what to wear for
our feast. Being the crazy teacher that I am I saw these cute cone turkeys and
had to make them! I also used these cute certificates from Erica Bohrer to show
how thankful I am for each one of them! After my peaches had music they got to
watch a classic, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. Their laughter was contagious
from beginning to end. Before our kiddos headed out the door for break we
celebrated one of my peaches birthday! She brought a yummy chocolate cake to
share with everyone!
On a personal note…
I spent my break decorating the house in preparation
for Christmas and Thanksgiving. We hosted my husband’s parents and even if it
was us four I wanted the house to feel festive. Tonight was spent finishing up
the big project which was the tree! Instead of watching a nice Christmas movie
we decided to pop in The Wolf of Wall Street instead.
